Bob Rieger in Pro Street

I meet Bob Rieger back in Feb, of 1998 when he came to DeSoto with his new ProStreet car with a 813 ci. Sonny Leonard engine and truck load of transmissions. Yep he was testing transmissions and he had only one of them make a full pass, then braking it on the next pass. It was from Transmission Specialties all the others broke in low or never made it to hi gear. Then he calls Bob Maze at Transmission Specialties for help. Bob Maze calls me and says there is this guy at DeSoto with a street car and the trany needs a tune-up. I say there is no problem, then he tells me about the 813 ci. Sonny Leonard engine in it, well I don't know about this now. He swears it will work just haven't done it yet. The next day Bob Rieger shows up with his glide, we pull it apart and the clutches look like you put a torch to them. Bob goes on and says the engine has only 1600 HP. By the time we get the glide back together I have him believing that this will never work. By 12:00 noon he is on his way back to the track and made 15 pass that day. From DeSoto, Bob heads to Moroso Motorsports Park were he gets runner up to Tony Christian when he red lights in the finals.
He goes on to win at Norwalk and Maple Grove.
